Iress appoints Daniel Ashley as Chief AI Officer to accelerate growth in AI capabilities

Iress have announced the appointment of Daniel Ashley to the newly created role of Chief AI Officer – a role designed to strengthen Iress’ strategic focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Ashley brings deep expertise in AI, machine learning and data strategy, with a track record of leading high-impact AI transformations and developing next-generation technology solutions for global technology and financial services firms. He joins Iress from Amazon Web Services (AWS), where he was the AI/Machine Learning and Data Specialist for Enterprise Accounts. Prior to this, he held senior digital transformation roles at Westpac and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.

In his new role, Daniel Ashley will lead a cross-functional team focused on leveraging AI to enhance product performance, automate workflows, and unlock new insights for clients globally, particularly across financial advice and investment management.

Reporting to Iress’ Chief Operating Officer, Justin Schmitt, Ashley will be responsible for driving the development and deployment of AI solutions across Iress’ product suite and operations, embedding AI more deeply into the business.

Schmitt said, “We’re pleased to welcome someone of Dan’s calibre to Iress at a pivotal time for the business. His proven track record in leading AI-driven transformation in financial services and at AWS will help accelerate our efforts to embed AI at the centre of our innovation strategy. AI represents a significant growth opportunity for Iress, enabling us to deliver faster, smarter and more scalable outcomes for our clients.”

Commenting on the new role, Daniel Ashley said, “I’m excited to be joining Iress at a time of significant opportunity. AI has the potential to redefine financial technology and deliver real, measurable value for Iress’ clients, people and shareholders. I look forward to working with the team to turn that potential into results.”

This strategic hire follows Iress’ recently announced growth priorities, which include capturing the significant opportunities present in global wealth management, powered by data and AI, while continuing to provide critical trading and market data infrastructure to the industry.
